The Gospel story is weaved throughout scripture, and throughout history as well. It includes Creation, the Fall of man into sin, Redemption through Jesus, and Restoration that will take place when Jesus returns! It also includes you and I and God's love and story to bring us into a relationship with Him.
This Gospel, has very real implications for our daily lives. John 3:16 tells us, "For God so loved the world that he gave his one and only Son, that whoever believes in him shall not perish but have eternal life." Our desire is for everyone to place their faith and trust in Jesus' death, burial, and resurrection, and discover what true life looks like in Christ. Below is a simple layout of what it means for follow Jesus and being our faith-journey with Him.
We have to realize that we are sinners, that we have stuff, and repent, or turn away from it.
Acts 3:19
Now repent of your sins and turn to God, so that your sins may be wiped away.
2 Corinthians 7:10
For the kind of sorrow God wants us to experience leads us away from sin and results in salvation. There’s no regret for that kind of sorrow. But worldly sorrow, which lacks repentance, results in spiritual death.
We must confess that Jesus is Lord and Savior.
1 John 1:9
But if we confess our sins to him, he is faithful and just to forgive us our sins and to cleanse us from all wickedness.
By BELIEVING Jesus is who He said He is, we come into relationship with Him.
Romans 10:9
If you confess with your mouth that Jesus is Lord and believe in your heart that God raised him from the dead, you will be saved.
It's simple: RECEIVE it.
Revelation 3:20
Look! I stand at the door and knock. If you hear my voice and open the door, I will come in, and we will share a meal together as friends.
This is a simple prayer you can pray to being your journey in faith with Jesus.
Father in Heaven, thank you for being so loving and sending your son Jesus to die on the cross for my sin. I believe Jesus paid the price for my sins and that he is Lord. I believe that you raised Him from the dead, defeating sin and death and offering me life more abundantly. Forgive me of my sins, forgive me of everything I have done. Help me to live my life for You, make me new. In Jesus' name, Amen.
